Kitchen Tour 24

Hello Hello!

So happy you are here. Welcome to my new website. Since Down to Earth Style a lot of things look different around here. Including our kitchen.

BEFORE

We had a leaky dishwasher for about four years and didn’t realize it until our wood floor started buckling. While we needed to have that fixed and replace some cabinets, I took the opportunity to make the space work better as far as traffic flow and storage.

We opened up the mudroom and took down the cabinet wall. Our home is already super open, which I don’t actually love but in this area we needed easier flow to the back door and to not have people walk right through the kitchen work zone from the mudroom.

The refrigerator moved to the old opening of the mudroom and that room got shorter but somehow way more useful. We love it. The arch adds so much more character too. This room has been a breakfast nook and a tv room. The flexibility of use is great to have.

We gained a lot of natural light in the kitchen and our little flex space. Currently a sitting area.

There it is from this side. The island legs are new but the island is where we reused some of our old cabinets and had them painted.

Same view from 2019.

All the white wall cabinets are new with a more functional layout.

Our island is still huge. The tile and cabinets go to the ceiling and looks very clean to me. While I wasn’t planning on white cabinets, they came that way and I decided to keep them.

Arched pantry opening without a door but a curtain.

The best thing we ever did was open up the 24 inch pantry door into a wide arched opening. I love the flow of the curtains and the ease of grabbing my pots and pans.

The appliances, minus the fridge, are all new as well. The wall ovens were a little bulky so we opted for a 36 inch dual fuel oven. I like the chunkier look of it. The open shelf? I do love it but I have to wash it down a lot.

Eventually the fridge will be a paneled one so it looks like a cabinet built in.

I can share more of this space again but I don’t want to make this post too wordy for ya.

Truly excited to be back with a different brand name. I am always a down to earth style kind of girl though.

There are more stories to share. I love cataloging my life, food, DIYs and home here. I’ve missed it.

I show up in my Instagram stories most days so come join me over there as well.

Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you again soon.
